Rákóczi Square Market Hall

The Rákóczi Square Fair Hall (or Fair Hall No. II) is one of the great fair halls built in Budapest during the monarchy.

It was built in 1894, second only to the Central Market Hall, and was designed by István Rozinay and Pál Klunzinger.

It is still in its original function, although it burnt down during a fire in 1988 and had to be completely renovated.

History

By 1936, the hall’s traffic had become so low that plans were made to close it, but these plans were later abandoned. On the night of 6 May 1988, a fire broke out in the hall and the building burnt down.

Renovation

The building was not demolished, but renovated according to the plans of architects György Tokár and György Hidasi, and reopened on 25 July 1991.

Construction

Our company carried out the complete renovation of the roof structure and the roofing work.
